Blackmail, Strippers, and Late-Night: ‘Hacks’ Is Back

THE LAST LAUGH

Deborah and Ava are getting into that last amazing scene in the new trailer for Season 4 Max’s hit comedy series.

Hacks is back, and it’s ready to take on late-night television.

Max just dropped the season 4 trailer for its hit comedy series, Hacks, a show about the tense mentorship between Deborah Vance (Jean Smart), an aging and out-of-touch Las Vegas comedian, and Ava Daniels (Hannah Einbinder), a young, self-centered comedy writer.

Season 3 left Ava and Deborah in a tense place. After Deborah names another person as the head writer for her new late-night TV show, Ava goes ballistic, threatening to reveal to the world that Deborah slept with the head of the network days before the announcement of her new show.

And from the looks of it, Season 4 will pick up right where Season 3 ended, following Deborah and Ava as they do everything in their power to make the new show successful, working together even when they want nothing more than to take each other down.

“Blackmail. On day one. Not good!” Jimmy, the ladies' manager, yells at Ava in the trailer. “She’s been doing this for 50 years. You’re not going to beat her at her own game. Nobody beats Deborah.”

Along with Smart and Einbinder, Season 4 sees the return of cast members Rose Abdoo, Carl Clemons-Hopkins, Mark Indelicato, Megan Stalter, and Paul W. Downs, who also returns as showrunner along with Lucia Aniello and Jen Statsky.

Set to release on Apr. 10, the newest season of Hacks promises to be full of tension, drama, and big laughs, upping the ante for viewers as Deborah and Ava take on the Hollywood big leagues together.

As the trailer says, “You gotta dance with the one who brought ya.”
