Readers were overall quite interested in the new show. One reader thought that HBO was a smart venue for Sorkin's return to television:

saladdin: Hard to say honestly. I think Sportsnight and Studio 60 failed on network TV due to lack of viewership, something not necessarily as important in cable. It may last a few years and be very well written.

After viewing the trailer, Vicki C. commented that the show "poses many interesting questions the the Right cannot answer."

The trailer shows that the reporter who has the meltdown is a registered Republican who believes in global warming. One reader noted that this was an unexpected, but welcomed, protagonist:
