The Royalist feels the need to start this post with a disclaimer: we feel the same about these reports as we did about the ones in Us Weekly that Pippa Middleton was engaged.

And we don't want to give the Harry hunters false hope.

However we would be remiss in our duties if we did not tell you that the Mirror newspaper in the UK did report at the weekend that Prince Harry's romance with Cressida Bonas was on the rocks as the couple had, "drifted apart".

A source told the paper: “Talk of Harry and Cressida getting married could not be further from the truth. Indeed it wouldn’t be a surprise if they go their separate ways soon.

“It is actually Harry who has been moving on. He is incredibly fond of Cressida and loves her company but he has commitments and plans in other areas of his life that could be jeopardised by settling down.

"It is not what he wants at this time of his life.”

The Mirror story did contain one bona fide scoop however, although it was somewhat buried, namely that Harry and Cressida did not go on a ski trip in the New Year.

However, the Mirror's reports of a Harry-Cressida cooling have been undermined by sightings of the young and glamorous couple out and about in London over the weekend, hanging with Princess Eugenie at Jak's bar in Mayfair (where Harry's ever-increasing beard was instagrammed).

And just because a ski trip did not happen, this does not mean that the romance is over.

My own information is that although reports and speculation about an engagement are premature, Harry has told friends that Cressida is without a doubt the most serious relationship he has been in, eclipsing even the Chelsy years, and that he remains committed to her.

He also realizes that Cressida has had to make significant sacrifices to pursue the relationship with him, including giving up her hoped-for career as a dancer, to work in an art gallery in London, not exactly the kind of career that she had imagined for myself.

Wedding bells may not be on the horizon just yet, but I don't think breakups are on the cards either.
