Last year, a restaurant opened near Tokyo’s Yoyogi Park that combines a meal with virtual-reality technology, projection mapping, music, and scents to create an experience that is said to leave guests at the edge of their seats. Upon entering the restaurant, the guest is walked by an attendant through projected images and lighting reflected on the walls. There is a six-course meal that comes around, at a cost of 23.000 yen (about $205) per person. The restaurant serves only dinner, and hosts up to eight pairs of guests each night.
