Over online retail juggernaut's dispute with publisher Hachette
Stephen Colbert is angry at Amazon—and so can you.
The author, comedian, and future king of Late Night called out the online retailer for blocking sales of books published by Hachette Book Group due to a dispute. Hachette publishes high-profile authors like J.K. Rowling, Malcolm Gladwell, and of course, Stephen Colbert.
Amazon’s letter recommending customers buy used Hachette titles got Colbert’s blood up as well. ‘You don’t want them,’ he said. ‘Used books are the sluts of the literary world!’
Ultimately, Colbert offered Amazon a package for them, loaded with two middle fingers. Let’s hope Amazon doesn’t retaliate with their drones.
