Anyone who has seen HBO’s Game of Thrones, or read the Song of Ice and Fire books upon which it’s based, knows that Jon Snow is the bastard son of the late Ned Stark. What this video presupposes is, maybe he isn’t.

‘R+L=J’ lays out a fan theory that Snow is in fact the offspring of Ned’s sister Lyanna and Rhaegar Targaryen, brother of the Mother of Dragons herself, Daenerys Targaryen. Citing passages from the books in which some admittedly slippery language is used, the video supports the possibility that George R.R. Martin has been playing a very long game with Snow’s lineage.

With two books to go, and Martin in no real rush to finish them, the revelation of Jon Snow’s real parents is still down the road. If it turns out to be true, this could be a real game changer… of thrones.
