Two counties in northern Arizona had impossibly high voter turnout. In Apache and Navajo counties, multiple precincts reported more votes tallied than actual registered voters. For example, the Puerco West precinct in Apache County reported 100 votes cast, but it only has 23 registered voters. That means turnout was 434 percent. Election officials say the voter inflation was not intentional, but rather, a result of human errors, such as mistakenly entering data and citizens using the wrong polling places. “They’re all the same races—nobody voted in a race that they weren’t entitled to, but we’re probably going to look at consolidating them in the general election,” said Arizona Assistant Secretary of State Jim Drake.
