Mad Men is mad about architecture: Famed New York Times architecture critic Ada Louise Huxtable was name-dropped on the second episode of the AMC series, as the characters discussed plans to demolish Penn Station in 1963 to make way for the new Madison Square Garden. And the show’s writers did some research: one character reads aloud from Huxtable’s article about the plans. But his colleague quickly retorts: “Ada Louise Huxtable is as green as that folder… People know she’s an angry woman with a big mouth.”
