Kate Suicide Nurse Note: "Make Australian DJs Pay My Mortgage"
The nurse who killed herself after being hoaxed into connecting a call from two Australian radio DJ's to Kate Middleton's room left a note directly blaming the two radio DJs.
The note, which emerged publicly this weekend ahead of the official inquest into her death said: "I hold the Radio Australians Mel Greig and Michael Christian responsible for this act. Please make them pay for my mortgage."
The two DJs have since returned to work in low-profile positions.
Mrs Saldanha took her own life last December. just three days after she transferred the hoax call to a ward nurse.
She had made two previous suicide attempts.
She exonerates the hospital from any responsibility in another letter addressed to her managers at the exclusive London hospital, saying "Please accept my apologies. I am truly sorry. Thank you for all your support."
However, legal arguments continue. At an interim hearing of the inquest into her death last month, a barrister representing Mrs Saldanha's family questionedwhether she was suitably trained “to deal with the difficulties that she faced” and whether having to answer the phone in the matron’s office was a breach of her employment contract.
John Cooper QC told the hearing at Westminster Coroner’s Court: “We would like to examine why it was that Mrs Saldanha was placed in a position in the matron’s office where she was receiving calls from outside agencies and whether there was a security policy in place to inform those due to carry out those policies.
“Was it within her contract of employment and capabilities to be a receptionist? Was she properly placed in the position that she was, to deal with the difficulties that she faced? That is the thrust of our position in relation to the hospital.”
The Australian DJs apologized profusely for the prank that prompted the nurse's suicide.
