Newly released police audio recording reveals New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez’s purportedly drunk behavior in a recent disturbance call from a hotel in Santa Fe. Members of Martinez’s entourage were accused of throwing bottles from a fourth-floor balcony. The audio, released by police, includes Police Sgt. Anthony Tapia saying Martinez was “inebriated” during the party for her friends and staff. The Sante Fe New Mexican reported Martinez had said she drank only one and a half alcoholic beverages over several hours. Martinez’s political opponents have seized on the recording, with the Democratic House Minority Leader Brian Engolf saying it demonstrates her “breathtaking lack of honesty and her appalling treatment of our law enforcement officers and the workers of the Eldorado Hotel.”
