Juan Gabriel Vásquez is a Colombian writer, translator, and author of a number of books in Spanish. The first of his novels to be translated into English is The Sound of Things Falling. Educated in Barcelona and in Paris at the Sorbonne, he now teaches in Barcelona, where he lives with his wife and twin daughters.
