Is this the anti-Sarah Palin? Calling the Tea Party movement a passing “boomlet,” New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is inserting himself into national politics Palin-style, endorsing a slew of candidates across the country. For Bloomberg, though, the key to earning his endorsement is moderate politics—he’s endorsed both Democrats and Republicans. The self-made billionaire will campaign with California Republican Meg Whitman in her bid for governor next month, as well as host a fundraiser for embattled Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in his Nevada race. As for rumors that his foray into national politics is setting up his own political future, Bloomberg is dismissive of a run for the White House, but admits that the only D.C. job he’d want is president. “You know, I’m a doer,” he says.
