Canadian authorities said the murder of eight people, including two children, and a suicide in Edmonton was an “extreme case of domestic violence gone awry.” The police identified the murderer as Phu Lam after finding his body with a suicide note in a restaurant in nearby city Fort Saskatchewan. Lam, who went on a rampage at two locations, killing six adults and two children under the age of 10, had a criminal record dating back to 1987. His family had called the police because he seemed “depressed and overly emotional” and possibly “suicidal.” Police have not yet detailed his relationship with the victims. It was the largest mass murder in Edmonton since 1956.
