Let the journalistic sniping begin: CBS News’ chief foreign correspondent, Lara Logan, went on CNN’s Reliable Sources to attack Michael Hastings and his Rolling Stone article that led to the sacking of General Stanley McChrystal. “Michael Hastings, if you believe him, says that there were no ground rules laid out. And, I mean, that just doesn't really make a lot of sense to me," she said. "I mean, I know these people. They never let their guard down like that. To me, something doesn't add up here. I just—I don't believe it." Also, when asked if there’s an “unspoken agreement that you’re not going to embarrass [the troops] by reporting insults and banter,” she said, “Absolutely. Yes … there is an element of trust.” Her criticism also took a bizarre patriotic turn, when she said, “Michael Hastings has never served his country the way McChrystal has.”
