Friday’s Hope for Haiti star-studded telethon has raised $58 million as of Saturday evening, setting a record for donations made by the public through a disaster-relief telethon. Donations from all over the world are still coming in, and the Hope for Haiti Now album, a compilation of the night's performances, is being sold on iTunes and now holds the No. 1 album spot in 18 countries. Apple's iTunes calculations are not complete, but that amount combined with donations from private donors and corporations—which are not included in the current total—are sure to drive the total higher. The star-studded show appeared on more than 25 TV networks, making it one of the widest distributed prime-time televised benefits history, says CNN. Although the show is over, people can continue to making donations to "Hope for Haiti" for the next six months.
