    NATO Extends Libya Mission

    Muammar Gaddafi hasn’t been driven from power yet, but NATO isn’t giving up. The alliance has extended its mission in Libya—originally a no-fly zone, but increasingly an aggressive air campaign against targets linked to Gaddafi—until nearly the end of September. The vote required a unanimous vote of the 28 members. Reviews of the campaign have been mixed. While the airstrikes have succeeded in stalling Gaddafi’s army, which appeared to be on the verge of overrunning rebels, the war has ground to a stalemate, with neither side able to gain a definitive advantage.
