A Libyan government spokesman claimed that a NATO airstrike killed 85 civilians, and showed journalists the bodies of 25 people. NATO confirmed it had launched an airstrike in the region, but said the target was a military compound. “We do not have evidence of civilian casualties at this stage, although military casualties, including mercenaries, are very likely owing to the nature of the target,” said a NATO spokesman.
