Republican presidential candidate, Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., addresses the national convention of the American Legion, Thursday, Sept 1, 2011, in Minneapolis.

Will the U.S. have its own Iron Lady? In a speech to the American Legion’s national convention, Michele Bachmann invoked England's former prime minister Margaret Thatcher, saying that the world needs to know that America has a “strong leader” like the groundbreaking P.M. or Ronald Reagan. Bachmann said she would show that the U.S. will not “conduct our foreign policy apologetically, such as leading from behind.” The 2012 candidate highlighted her role on the House Intelligence Committee to show that she understands the threats facing the country.
