An American language teacher was shot dead by two gunmen on a motorcycle Sunday in Taiz, one of the largest cities in Yemen. The assailants, who fired on the victim in his car and fled the scene, are believed to be militants linked to al Qaeda, a local police source told Reuters. The man was an English teacher and deputy director of a local school called the Swedish Institute, the source said. The AFP news agency cited witnesses who said the attackers were dressed in the uniform of the country’s elite Republican Guard.
