Assange’s Mother to Plead His Case

Julian Assange's mother, Christine Assange, will meet Monday with Ecuador's foreign minister in order to discuss her son's application for asylum. The irascible WikiLeaks founder and talk-show host is currently living at the Ecuadorean embassy in London. The minister, Ricardo Patino, told Agence France-Presse that, "We will take decisions that do not affect our relations with Britain." Assange is running from extradition to Sweden, which has accused him of sexual assault. Both the U.S. and the U.K. have indicated in the past that they would be willing to help Sweden detain the international leaker.
