    Retail Sales Dip

    Retail sales, a strong point in recent months, fell unexpectedly in October. Sales were off 0.3 percent from September, but still up 3.8 percent from October 2011. Reading in between the lines, it’s clear that Sandy’s disruption of logistics and supply chains played a role—by sandbagging vehicle sales, online commerce, and mail-order business.
