The New York City homeless man who received a gift of $100 boots and thermal socks from a police officer can’t wear them because they’re too valuable. “Those shoes are hidden,” Jeffrey Hillman told The New York Times of his gift from officer Lawrence DePrimo. “They are worth a lot of money.” The 54-year-old, whose bare feet got the country’s attention when a tourist snapped a photo of DePrimo’s act of generosity, said he could “lose his life” wearing the pricey boots on the streets.
