Der Spiegel got a little ahead of itself Sunday when it accidentally published an obituary for George H.W. Bush. Bush has been ill lately—hospitalized since the end of November with a brief stint in intensive care when he came down with a fever just before Christmas. But while he may be sick, the former U.S. president is—by all accounts—still kicking. The respected German newsweekly apologized for its error via Twitter, noting that “All newsrooms prepare obituaries for selected figures.” Though the unfinished obituary only appeared online for a few minutes before it was removed, it was not very flattering, describing Bush senior as “a colorless politician” whose reputation only improved when compared to that of his son. Ouch.
