Disney Plans Stand-Alone ‘Star Wars’ Films

    Help Disney, Obi-Wan Kenobi. Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed on Tuesday that the company will create three stand-alone Star Wars films that will not be connected to the saga. The films will instead focus on character development. Star Wars VII, VIII and IX will be released over a roughly six-year period starting in 2015. Oscar-winning screenwriter Michael Arndt has signed on to write the first film, which will be directed by J.J. Abrams.
