As a celebrity figure, South African Oscar “Blade Runner” Pistorius apparently felt more threatened than most. Arrested and charged for murdering his model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp early on Valentine’s Day, Pistorius allegedly kept multiple firearms in his bedroom. In an interview with the Daily Mail last year, the Paralympic athlete said he slept with a pistol next to his bed and kept a machine gun by his window. In another profile, he admitted his cure for insomnia was firing off rounds of his 9mm handgun at a nearby shooting range. Pistorius also allegedly has a history of violence. In 2009 he spent a night behind bars after a woman claimed he’d assaulted her at a party.
