Denny Hamlin was hospitalized overnight Sunday after crashing at the Auto Club 400, a wild race that also featured a fight between Tony Stewart and Joey Logano. Kyle Busch won the race after Logano crashed with Hamlin, who slammed into one of the walls that does not have a SAFER (steel and foam energy reduction) barrier to protect drivers. Hamlin was airlifted to a California hospital after the race and was said to be awake and alert. Stewart confronted Logano after the race, claiming Logano blocked him on the bottom lane in the closing laps—which resulted in Stewart placing 22nd in the race.
