Time for Change
Obama Picks Female Secret Service Director
President Obama is appointing the first female director of the U.S. Secret Service. Julia Pierson, who began her career as an agent three decades ago and currently serves as the agency’s chief of staff, was selected by Obama to institute a culture of change within the service. Last April’s scandal involving 13 agents and officers and prostitutes in Colombia exposed a culture of macho behavior that led to the embarrassing resignation of former director Mark Sullivan.
