Faux Rockefeller Found Guilty of Murder

The real-life inspiration for Eric McCormack's character in the Lifetime original movie "Who Is Clark Rockefeller" was convicted of first degree murder Wednesday. After a three-week trial featuring the testimonies of over 40 witnesses on the con artistry of Christian Karl Gerhartsreiter, the German native who fooled East Coast elites by playing a cast of high society characters from British aristocrat Christopher Chichester to Clark Rockefeller, a Los Angeles judge determined Gerhartsreiter was responsible for the 1985 murder of 27-year-old John Sohus and the disappearance of his wife Linda. "He's gotten away with it for 28 years," the deputy district attorney on the case told the jurors. "He thinks he's smarter than everyone ... He thinks everyone is so stupid."
