If the love of frites can’t unite Belgium, maybe a spectacular diamond raid can. Belgian police said they arrested 31 people on Wednesday in connection to a $50 million diamond heist pulled off at Brussels International Airport. One person was detained in France, six in Switzerland, and 24 in Belgium in connection to the February 18 robbery. Investigators said the diamonds were loaded onto a plane bound for Zurich when robbers clad in police clothing drove through a hole in an airport fence in two black cars with police lights flashing. The robbers drove through the tarmac and took the diamonds off the plane while brandishing machine guns—all in under five minutes.
