Don Ennis had lived with an “unusual hormonal imbalance” since childhood, but last week he decided to take control of it. So Friday, the ABC News editor strutted into work sporting a “little black dress” and a brunette wig, and asked that he now be referred to as Dawn. After years of receiving female hormone treatments to prolong a childhood acting career, Ennis developed breasts and the gradual change in her personality and mindset eventually put an end to a 17-year marriage. Ennis’s announcement may have come as a shock to her colleagues, but she received a note of support from ABC News President Ben Sherwood and is actually shopping a book deal. “Trust me, this is NOT the midlife crisis I was counting on,” Ennis wrote on her Facebook page. “I’d much prefer to have bought a sports car.”
