It looks like Serena Williams regrets the comments she made regarding the Steubenville, Ohio, rape case to a Rolling Stone reporter. Or at least she feels bad they were published. The tennis champ took to her website Wednesday to apologize. “I am deeply sorry for what was written in the Rolling Stone article,” Williams wrote. “What was written—what I supposedly said—is insensitive and hurtful, and I by no means would say or insinuate that she was at all to blame.” Williams, who said she has fought her entire career for women’s rights, also mentioned that she is reaching out to the victim’s family to make amends.
