The votes are in! Freddie Freeman of the Atlanta Braves and Steve Delabar of the Toronto Blue Jays are officially on the baseball all-star teams after winning the final spots Wednesday in their respective leagues. The game is July 16 at Citi Field, the home of the New York Mets. Freeman beat out Yasiel Puig, who has accumulated eye-opening stats, but debuted in the majors just over a month ago, on June 3. Voters in the NL stuck with tradition, instead electing a player from a team leading its division—something Puig’s Dodgers are not doing. Delabar beat out four other relief pitchers to earn his selection. Neither player has been an all-star before. The polling, which took place online, via text, and on Twitter, set a new record with 79.2 million votes.
