The great New York Times outage of 2013 appears to be over, though what exactly went wrong is still unclear. The paper’s homepage, NYTimes.com, crashed for about three hours on Wednesday. “The outage to our website occurred within seconds of a scheduled maintenance update, which we believe was the cause,” a spokesperson told The Daily Beast. “We have no reason to believe that this was a denial-of-service attack. We are in the process of fully restoring access to the site.” Others were more jocular about it: “This would be a good time to be a print subscriber to the paper,” quipped one Times reporter.
