A 102-year-old Frenchman just showed us all up. Cyclist Robert Marchand beat his own world record in the over-100s category on Friday, riding 26.927 kilometers in one hour, besting his last record by more than 2.5 kilometers. For comparison, the current overall world record is 49.700 kilometers in one hour. Marchand is a retired firefighter and logger who also holds the over-100 world record for riding 100 kilometers. He managed that one in four hours, 17 minutes and 27 seconds. Marchand was greeted at the finish line on Friday by dozens of photographers and a standing ovation. “You have to know there are people who came from 600 kilometers away to see me today! It is incredible. That’s all I can say,” he said.
