Insurers Must Cover Gay Spouses

Talk about health-care reform: The Department of Health and Human Services announced Friday it has ordered health-insurance companies to provide coverage to same-sex spouses if they already cover heterosexual couples. Starting in 2015, they'll also have to offer coverage for same-sex spouses if a company buying insurance for them also buys coverage for heterosexual couples. "In other words, insurance companies will not be permitted to discriminate against married same-sex couples when offering coverage," an official at HHS wrote.
