With the brutal 2012 gang-rape of a student on a bus still a source of pain in India, a photographer's fashion shoot depicting a woman being assaulted on a bus has incited widespread outrage. The project, by Raj Shetye, featured a female model in high-end fashion clothes being groped by fashionably dressed men on a bus. In one picture, she is struggling against two men pinning her arms, another two holding her to the seat, and a man standing over her. The artist took down the portfolio but defended himself in a statement saying, “The aim is purely to create art that will garner public opinion about issues that concern women. It breaks my heart to see my mother, my friends, my sister constraining themselves professionally and personally just to be safe.”
