When asked for comment on Cecil’s death, acting information minister Prisca Mupfumira asked, “What lion?” The government has yet to issue a formal response. “Why are the Americans more concerned than us?” said Joseph Mabuwa, a father of two who spoke to Reuters. “We never hear them speak out when villagers are killed by lions and elephants in Hwange.”
