Asked by NBC News reporter Kelly O’Donnell on Wednesday if Donald Trump went “too far” during the second presidential debate when he said he would appoint a special prosecutor and seek to put Hillary Clinton “in jail” were he to be elected, vice-presidential candidate Mike Pence shook his head and accused her of taking Trump’s comment “out of context.” Pence went on to echo Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway when he referred to the threat as “obviously” nothing more than a “quip” and part of a “back-and-forth” with Clinton. But, Pence added, “The issue of a special prosecutor is a serious one and I fully support it.” He said “no one is above the law,” including the Democratic nominee.
