A terrorist group was preparing an attack on Paris on Dec. 1, with potential targets including a popular Christmas market and Disneyland, Agence France-Presse reported Thursday. The news comes after French authorities nabbed 7 suspected terrorists in raids last weekend, two of whom were later released. Five of the suspects remain in custody as police continue their investigation into the planned attacks. An unnamed source in the police was cited by AFP as saying the suspects had been researching a Christmas market on Champs-Elysees avenue, Disneyland, cafes and a metro station as potential targets. One suspect also reportedly told investigators that an attack was planned at police headquarters in central Paris. Some of the suspects are thought to be taking orders from a jihadist handler based in Syria, and it’s unclear if any others involved in the thwarted attack remain on the loose.
