The South Carolina jury in the murder trial of Michael Slager, the police officer who fatally shot Walter Scott last April in North Charleston, informed the judge on Friday that it is unable to reach a consensus. The judge ordered jurors to keep deliberating. A traffic stop prompted the incident in which Slager was caught on camera shooting at Scott, 50, while Slager was chasing him. Last June, Slager was charged with murder, and separate state and federal agencies, including the FBI and the Justice Department’s civil rights division, are conducting their own investigations into the killing. Scott was shot a total of five times at medium range. According to reports, the jury has asked for the testimony of Feidin Santana, the man who filmed the incident and its aftermath, leading to national attention for the shooting.
