George Clooney and activist John Prendergast have launched a new project focused on those who profit from Africa’s conflicts. The Sentry seeks to map networks and individuals who benefit from war, and includes a portal for anonymous leaks and tips from informants. “Real leverage for peace and human rights will come when the people who benefit from war will pay a price for the damage they cause,” Clooney said. The initiative’s launch coincided with releases of papers on conflicts in South Sudan, Sudan, the Central African Republic, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
