Boko Haram extremists are suspected of killing at least 30 churchgoers in Nigeria. At least three churches were attacked in Chibok, which is in the northeast Borno state, the same region where 200 schoolgirls were abducted in April. A Chibok resident told The Guardian, “The attackers went to churches with bombs and guns. From what I gathered, dozens of worshippers, including men, women and children were killed.” The Nigerian government has faced criticism for struggling to control Boko Haram. The extremist group is also suspected of being involved in another attack last week—an explosion in a shopping mall in the capital, Abuja, that killed at least 21 people.
