Adding to the list of recent natural disasters, a magnitude 6.6 earthquake shook the western Indonesian island of Sumatra early Monday morning, causing residents and tourists to flee their houses and hotels in panic. Though no tsunami warning was issued, hundreds of people were evacuated from a hospital in the city of Medan, 60 miles from where the earthquake struck. Many patients were still hooked up to IVs as doctors wheeled them out of the building. A 12-year-old boy in a neighboring town has since been reported dead.
