Hissene Habre, Chad’s former dictator, was convicted of crimes against humanity on Monday. The charges included rape, sexual slavery, and ordered killings of as many as 40,000 people. He has repeatedly denied the court’s accusations. The trial took place in Senegal, where Habre has been living since he fled Chad in 1990.
