Conservative radio commentator Rush Limbaugh, 59, and Kathryn Rogers, 33, celebrated their marriage to the tune of $1 million—literally—at the Breakers hotel in Palm Beach, Florida, in June 2010. Who performed the pricey gig? Elton John. Among the attendees at Limbaugh's fourth wedding were former Bush adviser Karl Rove, Fox News commentator Sean Hannity, former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, and former Clinton adviser James Carville.
According to The Palm Beach Post, the couple met at a charity golf tournament Rogers was running. The irony of Elton John's performance: Limbaugh's an outspoken opponent of gay marriage. After the weekend ceremony, The Advocate, Out Magazine, and other gay-rights publications and activists were openly displeased. "I'm flabbergasted," Aaron Hicklin, Editor-in-Chief of Out,
told People magazine. "It betrays either ignorance or self-interest or both, and jeopardizes [Elton John's] admirable record on gay rights."
