New Hampshire—check! Mitt Romney won the Granite State primary with 35.6 percent of the vote, becoming the first non-incumbent Republican to win both Iowa and New Hampshire. Ron Paul was the wild card of the night, taking second place with 24.3 percent of votes, as Jon Huntsman trailed slightly behind at 18 percent. With New Hampshire in the bag and Romney one step closer to winning the GOP presidential nomination, the frontrunner dedicated the majority of his primary victory speech to bashing his next biggest competitor, President Obama. “The president has run out of ideas—and now he’s running out of excuses,” Romney told a cheering crowd. He was also reportedly “ecstatic” that Paul took second place.
