Wildfire Rages in Idaho (Photos)

A lightning-induced wildfire spanning more than 100 square miles raged through central Idaho Saturday, threatening 10,000 homes in its path.

A lightning-induced wildfire spanning more than 100 square miles raged through central Idaho Saturday, threatening 10,000 homes in its path. More than 700 firefighters have been deployed to the scene, where an estimated 2,250 people have been forced to evacuate.

The wildfire is burning eerily close to many homes and subdivisions, leading officials to declare it the "top priority" in the realm of wildfires. Here, a tanker helicopter drops water as a firefighter works to douse a hot spot.

A spokesman for the rescue workers, Lucie Bond, confirmed Sunday that no lives have been lost. "Firefighters have been going house to house to decrease the risk. We're simply not going to leave homes unprotected."
