Coverage of the gang rape of an 11-year-old girl in Cleveland, Texas, has sparked a discussion about how the media cover rape. However, the conversation could soon end, as the Liberty County district attorney’s office has asked for a gag order preventing investigators, witnesses, and lawyers from speaking with or disseminating any information to the media. The D.A.’s office alleges the national coverage has led to "a large amount of prejudicial, misleading, and inadmissible information” that could taint a jury. Eighteen young men and teenage boys are being tried for the rape.
