Golden Globes Fashion Trend 2012: Fishtail Dresses vs. Fish (PHOTOS)

Fishtail dresses blanketed the Globes. See a comparison of those on the stars and those in the ocean.

At the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday night, stars dazzled in dresses by Christian Dior, Lanvin, Versace, and Gucci. Many of the designs were strapless, several were beaded, and an overwhelming number had fishtail hems, extending into great bundles of fabric on the floor. Take Sofia Vergara, for example, whose Vera Wang dress was so tight and cleavage-enhancing that its exaggerated fishtail accentuated her curvy frame. “She sends me dresses that zip and close, so I don’t have to be doing a long fitting to transform them to my body,” the Modern Family actress told Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet before the show. Her silhouette may have been extreme, but she was joined by a sea of actresses who could have given any fish a run for its money. Here, The Daily Beast compares the fishtails on the red carpet with those in the ocean.
