NBC Sports hockey broadcaster Pierre McGuire narrowly missed a flying puck on live television Monday night. During a game between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Columbus Blue Jackets, McGuire made it clear he is not afraid of vulcanized rubber. As he was speaking, a puck came barreling toward his face and missed it by mere inches. The flying biscuit instead hit the camera stationed behind him dead-on. McGuire was talking about the game from between the players’ benches—as he usually does—and risked serious injury when the puck left Columbus’ zone and came hurtling toward the unprotected area. The 57-year-old TV veteran remained quite calm about the incident. “You can’t get involved in the field of play,” McGuire said. “So, keep your hands down.”
